The Garmin Edge 1060 is the top model of Garmin's bike computers, the kind you mount on the handlebars. It goes on sale Nov 6, 2026 (pre-orders from Oct 29) at JPY 128,000. It is the first Garmin bike computer you can control by voice.
The Shoe Nerd's top pick
The Edge 1060 is my pick for riders who don't want to take a hand off the bars. A built-in mic handles navigation and ride-data requests through about 76 voice commands. The screen stays at 3.5 inches, while the body is 1.1 cm shorter than the Edge 1050 and 19 g lighter. On a long ride, you press the screen less and keep your eyes up. If I'm reading the numbers, that's the first one I check.
Key points
- About 76 voice commands. You can handle navigation, start the timer and zoom the map by voice
- The body weighs 142 g. That's 19 g less than the Edge 1050 and 1.1 cm shorter (same 3.5-inch screen)
- The battery lasts up to about 60 hours in battery saver mode, and about 20 hours under heavy use
A tool that lets you operate it without letting go of the bars
On a ride, reaching for the screen takes one hand off the handlebars. On rough roads or streets full of traffic lights, that moment matters.
The Edge 1060 swaps that tap for your voice. It is the top bike computer in Garmin's lineup. I cover bike gear as a whole in the triathlon bike gear article. Here I read only the Edge 1060.

Garmin Edge 1060 (Nov 6 release)
Pre-release: available from Nov 6How is it different from the Edge 1050? What changed
| Item | Edge 1050 | Edge 1060 | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display | 3.5 inches | 3.5 inches | Same |
| Weight | 161g | 142g | -19g |

| Controls | Touch and buttons | Touch, buttons and voice | Voice added |
Voice control: About 76 commands cover navigation, starting the timer, brightness, map zoom and distance to the destination. Searching for a route by voice will come in a later update.
Weight and size: The screen is the same size, the unit is 19 g lighter and 1.1 cm shorter. 19 g is about 12% of 161 g (19 ÷ 161).
Speaker and buttons: The built-in speaker gives turn-by-turn and workout voice guidance, and can sound a bike bell. The buttons went up to seven.
What else was added: "Up Ahead" shows the distance to convenience stores and parks on screen. Analysis features such as Real-Time Stamina, Cycling Ability, ClimbPro and Power Guide are also in.
What I like
You can use it without letting go. On top of voice control, you get both touch and buttons. The buttons work with the screen locked, so it also handles rainy days.
The battery covers long rides. About 60 hours in battery saver mode, and about 20 hours even with navigation and notifications on. If you ride 5 to 6 hours on weekends, you won't be watching the battery on a single ride.
It pairs well with other Garmin gear. It works with the Varia radar that warns you of cars behind (Varia RearVue 820 article). It also has incident detection, which alerts your contacts when it senses an impact.
The map is made for Japan. The detailed Japan road map lets you find bike shops, convenience stores and parking quickly.
Things to watch
- The price is JPY 128,000. That's high for a bike computer. If all you need is a map and a ride log, there are other ways to choose.
- Voice route search comes later. Searching for a route by voice will arrive in a later update. Not everything works by voice on launch day.
- Some features need a smartphone. Notifications, LiveTrack, incident detection and voice messages need a smartphone connected over Bluetooth.
Who is the Edge 1060 for?
- Good fit: Anyone who does long bike sessions. Also a fit if you want to handle controls by both voice and screen, or see lights, radar and power meter on one display, or you are moving up from the Edge 1050 for the lighter body and voice control.
If most of your days are on an indoor trainer, a smart trainer like the Tacx Nera announced the same day (JPY 189,000, out Nov 6) will see more use.

Garmin's official online store offers an extended warranty and installment payments. In the box: a handlebar stem mount, a Flush-Out front mount, a strap and a USB cable (Type-C).
If you ride long, it's worth rethinking your watch too. I covered a watch for long distances in the Enduro 4 article.
