The hood adjustment goes from 1 place to 2
The 2025 model's page described the hood as "adjustable vertically and horizontally in one action with the adjuster at the back of the head." The 2026 model splits the job in two. The vertical adjustment to fit around the face is a cord inside the collar. The horizontal adjustment to fit the head is at the back.
Tightening vertical and horizontal together in 1 place takes few steps, but you cannot re-tighten just one. Split into 2 places, you can cinch only around the face in sideways rain.

The Yari Jacket uses the same fabric as the Feather Rain Jacket, is 70g heavier (265 − 195) and JPY 8,800 more (40,700 − 31,900). It claims to be "a piece covering every necessary function," with a hood that goes over a helmet and large pockets that double as vents. With the same 20,000mm waterproofing, weight per 1,000mm is 9.8g (195 ÷ 20) for the Feather and 13.3g (265 ÷ 20) for the Yari. The 70g is weight you pay for the number of features, not for stopping water.

If you are choosing a rain shell for running races, skip the Yari. The helmet hood and large pockets rarely get used when running, leaving just the 70g.

It states abrasion resistance in numbers. Every maker writes waterproofing and breathability. Few rain shells put the abrasion count on the product page. A number gives you a yardstick for comparing with other rain gear.
It delivers that strength at 195g. Compare it with the 2 mont-bell pieces lined up in the article on 12 outer layers. The 143g Versalite is 7-denier and the 233g Torrent Flyer is 15-denier. At 195g with 20-denier, it falls between the two in weight and has thicker yarn than either.
At 500km a month, gear usually fails first where the body and load rub. For rain gear, the shoulders and back. So for a long-trail rain shell, I look at the outer fabric after the waterproof rating.
Holding the price is worth praising too. It gained 10g at the same price, so per gram it dropped from about JPY 172 to about JPY 164. Pants are offered in the same fabric, making it easy to match top and bottom.
Things to watch
On the official store on Oct 13, 2026, all 4 colors and 5 sizes were SOLD OUT. Since it is a spring/summer item, the prospect of buying it on the official site now in autumn is slim, and you would be looking for shop stock.
Breathability is 20,000g. Compared with the 50,000g of mont-bell's Versalite and Torrent Flyer, that is 40% (20,000 ÷ 50,000). But with a different test method the numbers change a lot, so cross-maker comparison is only a rough guide.
Care takes effort. Hand washing (press washing) is the premise; spin dryers, tumble dryers and dry cleaning are out. It does not suit people who want to run it through the washing machine and dryer.
