The Mizuno HYPERWARP PACER is for runners who race in a HYPERWARP and want a no-plate shoe with the same geometry for fast training. Out Dec 10, 2026, official price JPY 18,700. About 205 g (27.0 cm, per shoe), stack 32.5 mm forefoot / 35.5 mm heel, 3.0 mm drop. It's the series' first training shoe.

The Shoe Nerd's top pick

Buy the PACER as a training shoe that keeps the 3.0 mm drop even without a plate. In place of a plate, a part in the midfoot stops it from flexing too much. Because its geometry matches the race shoes, you can carry your training pace straight into race day. That's what this shoe is for.

Key points

  • JPY 3,300 less than the RACER (22,000 − 18,700). No plate, 5 g heavier, 1.5mm less stack
  • About 60 g lighter than the everyday WAVE RIDER 30 (265 − 205), with a 5 mm lower drop
  • Sizes 23.0–29.0 cm plus 30.0 cm, 2E-equivalent width, 3 colors

What kind of shoe is the HYPERWARP PACER?

Plated shoe for racing, no plate for training. Plenty of runners split it that way, yet the two shoes often have different drops (the height difference between heel and forefoot). If only your race shoe has a different angle, the running you built in training doesn't carry over as is.

The HYPERWARP PACER is Mizuno's no-plate training shoe that closes that gap. Out Dec 10, 2026 at JPY 18,700, about 205 g (27.0 cm, per shoe). Its drop is 3.0 mm, the same as the HYPERWARP race shoes.

How is the HYPERWARP PACER different from the last generation? The series' first training shoe

The PACER has no previous generation. The first HYPERWARP line in Dec 2025 had three shoes, PURE, ELITE and PRO, all plated. This is the first HYPERWARP without a plate.

Without a plate, the midsole flexes more easily. Mizuno says it compensates with a shank insert part in the midfoot (around the arch) that adds torsional rigidity and stability.

The midsole is ENERZY NXT. The release describes it as soft, responsive and light. The product page puts it as “less sink-in, quick energy return.”

As someone who runs 500 km a month, drop is the first thing I want to check in a training shoe. The more miles a shoe gets, the more your legs adapt to any angle gap with your race shoe. The PACER matches the three race models at 3.0 mm.

HYPERWARP PACER vs RACER and WAVE RIDER 30

Two shoes to compare: the RACER, the most affordable race model in the same series, and the WAVE RIDER 30, Mizuno's go-to daily trainer.

PACER and RACER are from Mizuno's release and official pages (Oct 14, 2026). WAVE RIDER 30 numbers are the ones I read for this site's WAVE RIDER 30 article (27.0 cm, per shoe).

vs RACER: The gap is JPY 3,300 (22,000 − 18,700). For that, the RACER adds a full-length carbon plate and 1.5 mm more stack, and it's 5 g lighter. Same 3.0 mm drop. The series is designed as RACER for race day, PACER for fast training days.

vs WAVE RIDER 30: The PACER is about 60 g lighter (265 − 205) with a 5 mm lower drop (8 − 3). One is for slow long runs, the other for fast sessions; the jobs are split.

  • You want a shoe for training at race pace → PACER
  • You want plate energy return on race day → HYPERWARP RACER
  • You want an everyday shoe for slow long runs → WAVE RIDER 30

What I like: the same geometry as the race shoes

All four have the same drop. PACER, RACER, ELITE 2 and PURE 2 are all 3.0 mm. Plate or no plate, the heel angle stays the same.

No plate, but the midfoot isn't just left soft. The release says a part adds rigidity to the midfoot. The support lost with the plate is kept only around the arch.

The lowest price in the series. JPY 18,700 is about 53% of the PURE 2 (18,700 ÷ 35,200). For a training shoe you'll wear almost daily, it's the easiest HYPERWARP to own more than one of.

A wide range of sizes and colors. Sizes start at 23.0 cm, 1.5 cm further down than the RACER. There are 3 colors.

Things to watch

  • About 205 g, for a training shoe. 5 g heavier than the RACER. If you're after a light training shoe, the numbers give you no advantage.
  • 3.0 mm drop is low. If you're used to 8 mm or 10 mm shoes and move your training volume to this shoe all at once, the angle gap is big.
  • Normal width only. 2E-equivalent; no wide version is listed.
  • Out Dec 10. There aren't many days left this year to wear it.
  • No mileage estimate. Durability, the thing you most want to know in a training shoe, isn't in the release or on the product page.

Who the HYPERWARP PACER is for

  • Good fit: Runners who race (or plan to race) in a HYPERWARP and want the same geometry on fast training days. Runners who want to do tempo runs in a shoe that doesn't rely on a plate. Runners with normal-width feet.

If most of your runs are slow and long, the WAVE RIDER 30 suits you better. If you like a higher heel or have wide feet, there are other options. Half of the PACER's appeal is matching the HYPERWARP's geometry. To choose by goal time, see the shoes by finish time article.

HYPERWARP PACER price and how to buy

ModelOfficial priceRakuten price range
HYPERWARP PACER (out Dec 10)JPY 18,700—
HYPERWARP RACER (out Dec 10)JPY 22,000—
Official price as shown on Mizuno's official site on Oct 14, 2026 (incl. tax). The Rakuten range is what shops listed on the day I checked. Before release, listings may not be up yet.

The product page says the PACER and RACER can be ordered together in an official online pre-order. They can't be bought together with other pre-order items that release at different times.

At shops, identify it by the name “PACER” and model number J1GU2704. Don't mix it up with the RACER, out the same day; the difference is the plate.

FAQ

How does the HYPERWARP PACER fit?

It's made for a 2E-equivalent (normal) width, in sizes 23.0–29.0 cm plus 30.0 cm, with no wide version. My feet are 25.0 cm, and I'd start from my usual 25.0 cm. Try them on in the evening with your usual socks.

HYPERWARP PACER vs RACER: what's the difference?

The biggest difference is the plate: the PACER has none, the RACER has full-length carbon. Price differs by JPY 3,300, weight by 5 g, stack by 1.5mm, and both have a 3.0mm drop.

When is the HYPERWARP PACER released?

Dec 10, 2026. Pre-orders are open on the official online store, shipping in order from early Dec.
