The Saucony Triumph 24 is a cushioned shoe for people who want to wear a thick sole lightly on slow, long days. The deciding point is the new foam incrediLUX, 6mm thicker than the previous model and 13g lighter. The sole is 43/33mm, 250g, 10mm drop, JPY 25,300.

The Shoe Nerd's top pick

The Triumph 24 is a rare generation that got thicker and lighter. From the previous model it added 6mm of sole, cut 13g, and lowered the list price by JPY 1,100. Those numbers came from swapping the foam entirely for the new incrediLUX. It overturns the premise that thick soles are heavy in a single generation. If a number like 250g comes with a shoe for slow, long days, I choose this without hesitating.

Skip the reasoning and see the gear first ↓

Key points

  • The sole is 43/33mm. Both heel and front are 6mm thicker than the previous model's 37/27mm
  • Weight per 1mm of thickness goes from the previous model's about 7.1g to about 5.8g. About 18% less on the calculation
  • Saucony's daily Ride 19 is 255g. The Triumph, 7mm thicker, is 5g lighter

Triumph 24 official numbers | 250g, 43/33mm, 10mm drop, JPY 25,300

The Triumph 24 is a buy for people who want to wear a thick sole lightly on slow, long days. The deciding point is the new foam that made it 6mm thicker and 13g lighter than the previous model.

Thickening the sole normally makes a shoe heavier, but lined up against the previous model, that "normal" does not apply to the 24.

I line up numbers from the Japan official product page and the announcement Saucony's headquarters issued on Jun 1, 2026.

Triumph 23 compared | the whole foam was swapped

The biggest change is the foam. The previous Triumph 23 is PWRRUN PB. The 24 is a new foam, incrediLUX.

incrediLUX, per the product page, is a "supercritical A-TPU foam." It is made by soaking gas into the material under high pressure and then foaming it, and with many fine bubbles it can be lighter at the same volume. The home-market announcement writes 11% more cushioning than the previous model and about 0.4oz lighter.

Weight per mm of thicknessAbout 7.1gAbout 5.8gAbout −18%
Price per 1mm of thicknessAbout JPY 714About JPY 588About −18%
Both are the Japan official product page men's numbers. Per 1mm of thickness is the number divided by heel thickness (263 ÷ 37 = 7.11g, 250 ÷ 43 = 5.81g, 5.81 ÷ 7.11 = 0.82. 26,400 ÷ 37 = JPY 713.5, 25,300 ÷ 43 = JPY 588.4).

Both heel and front got exactly 6mm thicker (43 − 37, 33 − 27). Since the same amount was added, the drop stays 10mm.

And yet the weight fell 13g (263 − 250). The home-market announcement's "about 0.4oz" is about 11g (0.4 × 28.35), 2g off.

Seen as "weight per 1mm of thickness," the difference is clear

Divide shoe weight by heel thickness: the previous model is about 7.1g per 1mm, the 24 about 5.8g. The same 1mm of thickness is made about 18% lighter.

Running 500km a month, I compare slow-day shoes by weight per thickness. A thick shoe wears a face kind to the legs, but if it is heavy, lifting your feet in the second half of a distance becomes a chore. Daily shoes that reach the 5g range are not many even in spec tables.

The interesting one is the relationship with the Ride 19. The Ride's sole is 7mm thinner (43 − 36) yet 5g heavier (255 − 250). The Ride's foam is the same PWRRUN PB as the previous Triumph, and the effect of changing the foam shows in the numbers between siblings too.

  • Want a shoe for slow, long days → Triumph 24
  • Not fond of overly thick soles. Want an 8mm drop → Ride 19. The price gap is JPY 4,400 (25,300 − 20,900)
  • More settled on a shoe with a wide base → Hurricane 26. The same incrediLUX at the same price. The drop is 6mm, and it is 12g heavier (262 − 250)
  • For rainy days → GTX. 27g heavier than the standard and JPY 6,600 more (277 − 250, 31,900 − 25,300)
  • Want 1 pair to cover fast training too → better not the Triumph. From Saucony, it is the Endorphin Azura

What I like

It got 6mm thicker, adding foam to catch landing, got 13g lighter, and the list price came down JPY 1,100. A shoe that did all 3 in 1 generation at once is rare. Every number in the table's right column moved in the running side's favor.

The 43mm thickness is impressive too. In the numbers I read in this site's article on 10 shoes by use, the HOKA Clifton 11 is 42mm at the heel and the Nike Vomero 18 46mm. The Triumph 24 sits between them, and its weight is the lightest of the 3 at 250g (the size conditions are not matched across the 3).

It does not skimp on the sole rubber. XT-900 is a material Saucony calls "premium carbon rubber." While more shoes cut rubber for lightness, it takes durability as a shoe you wear every day.

Even the insole is foam. The "Super Responsive Sockliner" is an insole of resin foamed supercritically. It is lined up with the same thinking down to the layer nearest the sole of your foot.

Things to watch

The price is on the high side for a daily shoe. It is over JPY 10 higher than the Clifton 11 and Vomero 18 placed at ① in the 5,500-shoe article. It is a shoe where you pay for both lightness and thickness, and if it is "just a 1 to start with," other shoes are more affordable.

It got 6mm thicker than the previous model. If someone who has worn the 23 replaces it, the height from the ground changes even with the same drop. It is better to choose it intending to switch to a different shoe, not as a continuation of the name.

Who is it for?

  • Good fit: looking for a shoe for slow, long days. Likes a thick sole
  • Good fit: wants a thick sole but wants to avoid shoes near 300g
  • Good fit: used to shoes with a 10mm drop

For a cheap first pair, a choice of widths, a thin sole, a plated shoe or fast training, there are other ways to choose. If you like the 23's 37mm, the 24 is a shoe of a different height.

Official prices are the Japan official listing of Oct 13, 2026 (tax included). The Triumph 23 page showed a sale price (JPY 15,840). Rakuten prices are the range at stores on the day I checked, and may include items of different color or generation.

Even if the previous generation remains cheap, it is not "a cheaper version of the same shoe." It is a different shoe with different foam and a sole 6mm thinner. Buying the 23 for its price is a sound decision, but you will not get the 24's lightness and thickness.

When you buy, look at the number in the product name and the "GTX" marking. Even among Triumph 24s, the GTX is a different product, 27g heavier.

FAQ

What size range does the Triumph 24 have?

Japan official sizes are 25 to 32cm for men's and 22 to 26cm for women's. If width is a concern for your foot, it is a shoe to match length and width in a store before buying.

How do the Triumph 24 and 23 differ?

The foam changed to incrediLUX, and the 24 is 6mm thicker and 13g lighter. If you want a thick sole and lightness, the 24. The 23 is 37/27mm with PWRRUN PB foam. If you like a lower-stack shoe and can buy it cheaply, the 23 is enough. The drop is 10mm for both.

Does the Triumph 24 have a plate? Can it be used in races?

It is a shoe for daily jogs and long-distance training. The plated race shoe, from Saucony, is on the Endorphin Elite 3's side. Many people enter full marathons aiming to finish in daily shoes, and the maker is not forbidding that use.
