The Amazfit Balance 3 is a watch for people who want to measure running, triathlon and HYROX with 1 watch. The deciding point is a battery of up to 41 hours in high-accuracy GPS mode. Released Jul 10, 2026, JPY 63,800, 62g without the strap, a 1.5-inch OLED screen, and 4 HYROX modes.

The Shoe Nerd's top pick

The 41-hour battery reaches a 100km trail with a 32-hour time limit without lowering settings. For a long triathlon, it holds 3 races' worth. The trade-off is weight, 62g without the strap. I would not recommend this watch to someone who only races on the road.

Skip the reasoning and see the gear first ↓

Key points

  • The battery capacity is 658mAh, the same as the Balance 2. Yet high-accuracy GPS time went from 33 to 41 hours. That works out to about 20% less power used per hour
  • The price rose JPY 19,910 and the body got 19g heavier. Because the material changed from aluminum alloy to stainless steel
  • The titanium black version is 7g lighter and JPY 12,000 more. About JPY 1,714 to save 1g

Is the Balance 3 worth buying: same battery size, GPS up 8 hours

The Amazfit Balance 3 is a buy for people who want to measure trails up to 100km, triathlon and HYROX with 1 watch. The deciding point is up to 41 hours in high-accuracy GPS mode, and the trade-off is 62g of weight.

The battery capacity is 658mAh, the same as the previous Balance 2. Even so, GPS time grew 8 hours from 33. It is a generation that reduced the power used instead of adding battery. What is inside the HYROX modes is written in the article on Amazfit's HYROX modes, so here I look at the Balance 3 as a running watch.

Release dates and prices (tax included) are from Zepp Health's announcements of Jul 10 and Aug 27, 2026. The rest is from the Japan official product page listing of Oct 13, 2026. Weights are without the strap. 3,000 nits is the upper limit when the remaining battery is 30% or more. On the day I checked, the product page also showed a discounted price.

Divide the price by high-accuracy GPS hours and it is about JPY 1,556 per hour (63,800 ÷ 41). Put in this site's table of 12 models, it lands between the Balance 2 (JPY 1,330) and the Garmin Enduro 4 (JPY 1,725).

The announcement says there are over 170 sports modes. The product page list includes trail running, ultramarathon, open water swimming, triathlon and multisport.

Balance 3 vs Balance 2: what changed from the previous model

The previous model is the Balance 2. It is still sold on the Japan official site, so the product page numbers can be lined up as they are.

Both from the Japan official product pages of Oct 13, 2026. The material change is from the Jul 10 announcement. The Balance 2 product page calls the battery mode "accuracy GPS mode." "Power used per hour" is my estimate of capacity ÷ hours (658 ÷ 33 = 19.9, 658 ÷ 41 = 16.0). The screen is the same on both, 1.5 inches and 480 x 480 pixels.

GPS time grew about 24% (8 ÷ 33). With the same battery capacity, that means about 20% less power per hour (3.9 ÷ 19.9) — while raising the brightness ceiling 1.5 times (3,000 ÷ 2,000).

On the other hand, the price rose about 45% (19,910 ÷ 43,890). The weight rose about 44% (19 ÷ 43). The rise in price and weight is bigger than the battery gain.

The reason for the weight is clearly stated in the announcement. The body changed from the Balance 2's aluminum alloy to stainless steel and titanium. The announcement explains this as "more heft and a premium feel." It is not a generation change in the direction of lightening.

Differences from the titanium black, Balance Ultra and Cheetah 2 Pro

The Balance 3 has 1 version with the same name in a different material, and 2 other models above and beside it.

The 2 Balance 3 versions are from Zepp Health's Jul 10 and Aug 27 announcements and the product page. For both, normal battery is up to 21 days and sports modes are over 170. The Balance Ultra above is, in the same announcement, JPY 99,800, with normal battery up to 30 days and over 180 sports modes. The Cheetah 2 Pro uses numbers I read from the Japan official site in this site's article on 12 models, and 31 hours is the high-accuracy mode receiving 2 frequencies.

The titanium black version: 7g lighter (62 − 55) and JPY 12,000 more (75,800 − 63,800). It costs about JPY 1,714 to save 1g (12,000 ÷ 7). The announcement says the screen, battery and storage are the same.

Balance Ultra: The gap is JPY 36,000 (99,800 − 63,800). Normal battery extends to up to 30 days and it has 5 buttons. The announcement explains it is easy to operate even with gloves or sweaty hands. The announcement gives no time with GPS on, so I cannot calculate whether it is enough for a race.

Cheetah 2 Pro: A model for runners, about 61.5g with the band. The Balance 3 stainless is 62g without the strap. The weight on your wrist is lighter with the Cheetah 2 Pro. In GPS time, the Balance 3 is 10 hours longer (41 − 31).

  • 1 watch for running, swimming and HYROX. Keep the price down → Balance 3 (stainless)
  • Same content, but want 7g less on the wrist → Balance 3 (titanium black)
  • Only need HYROX race records and fitness tests → Balance 2
  • Running is the main use and lighter is better → Cheetah 2 Pro

What I like

It extended 8 hours without enlarging the battery. With the same 658mAh, 33 hours became 41 hours. That works out to about 20% less power. Because that result came with a higher brightness ceiling, I read this as the main substance of this generation.

41 hours reaches a 100km trail. Even in a race with a 32-hour time limit, 9 hours remain (41 − 32). In the JPY 60,000 range, you can measure 100km without lowering settings. For people who go to the mountains, that is a number that justifies the price rise.

The modes are complete, even including swimming. 10ATM water resistance with open water swimming, triathlon and multisport modes. The HYROX modes are 4: race, fitness test, training and simulation. Someone who enters across sports does not have to switch watches.

64GB of storage and loadable maps. You can load offline maps on the watch and view them on screen. GPX routes can be sent from the app.

It is an official HYROX watch. The announcement says Amazfit is HYROX's official wearable partner, and announced a 3-year partnership on Apr 15, 2026.

Things to watch

It is heavy. 62g without the strap. The COROS PACE 4 in the article on 12 models is 40g with the silicone band. As someone who runs 500km a month, the weight of what sits on your wrist every day is a condition to settle before battery hours. For someone mainly doing road training, this weight does not pay off.

The price per hour of battery rose from the previous model. The Balance 2's JPY 1,330 became about JPY 1,556, a rise of about 17% (226 ÷ 1,330). If you only want to buy battery, the Balance 2 is cheaper.

You load the maps yourself. On the product page, maps are shown by loading files in a format called OSM. Navigation needs a route file, and you cannot pick any point on the map and have it guide you. It works only within the outdoor sports modes.

3,000 nits does not come out all the time. The product page says it is unavailable when the remaining battery falls below 30%, and depending on ambient light it is automatic adjustment up to 2,000 nits.

No charging cable is included. Charging uses a dedicated magnetic charging dock, and you prepare the cable separately.

Is the Balance 3 battery enough for races? Who does it fit?

Divide the battery hours by the race time limit. If over 1, it is enough. The time limits are numbers I read from official entry guides in this site's race calendar and the mandatory gear article.

RacingCutoff41 hours ÷ time limitVerdict
Marathon6 hours6.8Enough
Long triathlon (Miyakojima)13 hours3.2Enough
OSJ KAMI100 100K25 hours1.6Enough
Tokyo100 (101km)30 hours1.4Enough
FunTrails 100K32 hours1.3Enough
FUJI100mi45 h 30 min0.94 hours 30 minutes short
41 hours is the upper limit of the high-accuracy GPS mode. The divisions are 41 ÷ 6 = 6.8, 41 ÷ 13 = 3.2, 41 ÷ 32 = 1.3, 41 ÷ 45.5 = 0.9. The power-saving GPS mode's up to 84 hours is not counted.

Full marathon: enough. It holds 6 races of 6 hours each. On battery it is far too much, and not a reason to choose this watch.

100km trail: enough. It reaches all 3 races in the table on high-accuracy settings. Even the longest at 32 hours leaves 9 hours.

Long triathlon: enough. It covers Miyakojima's 13 hours 3 times. It has triathlon and multisport modes and 10ATM water resistance. On paper, nothing is lacking.

100 miles: not enough on high-accuracy settings. It falls 4 hours 30 minutes short of FUJI100mi (45.5 − 41). With the power-saving GPS mode it is 84 hours.

  • Good fit: Someone who enters both HYROX and running. Someone who wants to measure triathlon and trails up to 100km with 1 watch. Someone who wants a bright screen.

If lightness is first for road only, there are other ways to choose. For 100 miles, run it on the power-saving setting. If the Balance 2's 33 hours is enough, wearing it out first is still in time.

Official prices are the regular prices (tax included) from Zepp Health's announcements and the Japan official product pages of Oct 13, 2026. On the day I checked, both the Balance 3 and Balance 2 product pages showed a discounted price. The Rakuten range is what the stores showed on the day I checked.

The sales channels in the announcement are Amazfit's official sales site, the official sales pages on Amazon, Rakuten and Yahoo! Shopping, electronics retailers and watch specialty stores. The product page says buying from the official sales site adds a 1-year extension to the 1-year warranty.

There are 3 yardsticks for choosing the previous model: the 8 hours of GPS, the 2 HYROX training modes, and the 1,000 nits of screen. If you will not pay the price gap in the table for these 3, the Balance 2, 19g lighter, makes more sense as a running watch.

When buying on Rakuten, tell apart "Balance 3," "Balance 2" and "Balance (no number)" in the product name. All 3 generations line up in the same search.

FAQ

How does the Amazfit Balance 3 differ from the Balance 2?

GPS is 8 hours longer, it is 19g heavier and JPY 19,910 more. Upgrading makes sense if you enter races over 33 hours. The Balance 2's 33 hours comes out exactly even on the Shinetsu Five Mountains 100 miles (33 hours), with nothing to spare. With the Balance 3, 8 hours remain. If you do not enter races that long, the battery is no trouble.

Is the Amazfit Balance 3 heavy?

It is over 20g heavier than a running-only watch. The stainless steel is 62g without the strap. The COROS PACE 4 is 40g with the silicone band, and the Garmin Forerunner 170 is 41g (Forerunner 170 article). Even before the strap is added, it is over 20g heavier. If you choose by lightness, even the 55g titanium black version does not reach.

Can the Balance 3 be used for triathlon?

Yes. The sports mode list on the product page includes triathlon and multisport. It is water resistant to 10ATM and has an open water swimming mode. The battery is 3 times a long race with a 13-hour time limit. Gear by distance category is collected in the triathlon distance article.
